Category Manager
DPI Specialty Foods, a market leader in the food distribution industry, currently has an opening for an experienced Category Manager.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with the Brokerage community and Manufacturer representatives on funding support for seasonal and customer specific advertising and marketing programs. Package these programs and hand them off for the AE’s to present to the chains.
Work closely with the AE’s to coordinate vendor funding for programs that the customer has initiated (i.e. local events and charities that the customers sponsor).
Conduct appointments with the Brokerage community and Manufacturer Representatives on new items for the category and financial support regarding the elimination of poor performing or discontinued items from the sets. Coordinate funding with the Brokerage community and Manufacturer representatives for new item placements, grand openings and sectional resets.
Solicit product demonstration funding and item selection for retailers that desire product demonstrations in their stores. Have direct responsibility and accountability for pricing strategy and the resulting gross margin result and achieving the budgeted gross margin goals as set forth through the budget process. Responsible and accountable for aged and dead inventory within the category. Working with DPI Account Executives, Sales Department, the Brokerage Community and Manufacturer Representatives create programs or negotiate support as necessary to move out the items at risk to assure meeting budgetary requirements for aged and dead inventory levels. Have direct responsibility and accountability for category sales volume and achieving the budgeted sales goals as set forth through the budget process.
Coordinate vendor financial support and as necessary establish the proper burdening of high indexing net customer spoiling items. Have direct responsibility and accountability of achieving budgetary goals on net customer spoils. Other duties as necessary to assure the profitable and efficient execution of all planned budgetary indicators for the category.
Requirements
Must be detail oriented, organized, self motivated, dedicated to customer service
Able to successfully work independently
Must have strong work ethic and flexibility as well as effective communication skills
Must have knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and Outlook
